At this stage, the area needing coverage is small and specific: the two temple points and a bit of the hairline between them. That's why the graft range (800-1,600) sits at the lower end of what any transplant typically requires — this is hairline-refinement territory, not full-scalp reconstruction. Where you land in that range depends mostly on how far back the temples have receded and how much density you want restored versus just softening the recession's edge.
What to expect
Single session almost universally. The bigger decision at Stage 2 isn't graft count — it's timing: since temple recession can continue progressing for years, some surgeons recommend waiting until it visibly stabilizes (or pairing surgery with finasteride to help stabilize it) before finalizing a hairline design, so the transplanted hairline doesn't end up isolated in front of hair that keeps receding around it.
